Vintage Hanbel Rug | Red With Ochre & Charcoal Diamond Motifs

Sourced from a rural market, this impressive and large-scale vintage Moroccan Hanbel rug is a flat-weave piece from the Middle Atlas region, traditionally woven by Amazigh communities. It reflects a long-established approach to weaving that prioritised durability and everyday use.

Hand-woven from natural sheep’s wool, the rug has a saturated colour palette that has softened over time. The flat-weave construction gives it a dense, resilient feel, making it well suited to high-traffic areas where a rug needs to hold its shape and wear well.

The pattern features detailed horizontal bands of intricate gometric drawing in charcoal tones, with a striking motif commonly found in Middle Atlas textiles, including diamonds and stepped borders.
