An 18th century Dutch Delft charger, hand-painted in cobalt blue with a central floral composition surrounded by further stylised flowers and foliage.
Made in the Netherlands during the 1700s, the charger is formed from traditional tin-glazed earthenware and has the characteristic blue and white decoration associated with Dutch Delftware. The hand-painted design varies in tone and line throughout, with a simple reddish-brown line visible at the outer edge.
There are a number of small chips and areas of glaze loss around the rim, consistent with the age of the piece and shown in the photographs. Despite being over two centuries old, it remains a highly decorative example and displays beautifully on a wall, dresser or plate stand.
