About This Object

Read More Read Less

A wonderfully characterful antique green wicker laundry basket dating from around the 1920s. Handwoven from wicker with its original painted green finish, this substantial basket retains its timber lid supports, metal fastening, leather securing tabs and the original black luggage label to the front.

Originally made as a laundry or linen basket, it would now make a beautiful storage piece for blankets, toys, cushions or logs. The rich green finish gives it a distinctive look while still working well in both traditional and contemporary interiors.

The basket shows honest signs of age throughout, including areas of paint wear, minor breaks to the wicker in places and expected surface wear, all of which add to its authenticity and charm. It remains structurally sound and is perfectly usable.

A practical piece of antique storage that is increasingly difficult to find, particularly in this original green finish.

Each piece in our collection is an authentic antique, vintage or handcrafted find. Natural patinas, surface wear, and historic imperfections are not flaws; they are part of the history and soul of the object.

We believe these unique markings are essential to their architectural presence and should be expected as part of their story.
