This hand-woven Moroccan Hanbel rug was sourced during a visit to a rural market in the Middle Atlas Mountains. Made from sheep’s wool, it’s a flat-weave rug originally intended for everyday use and built to wear well over time.
Given its smaller size, it was likely used as a prayer mat, saddle cover, or for other practical domestic purposes. The pattern is made up of geometric diamonds and horizontal bands, set against a deep red ground with contrasting charcoal and off-white details.
